I'll start where I left off. I got married and went to Hawaii for my honeymoon. Wow what an amazing place! It was great to be back there. The first time I traveled to Hawaii I was 16. I promised myself one day I would return. This time it was so great to be back and to travel with my husband. We traveled to Kauai and the big island, Hawaii. We hiked to see waterfalls and Kilauea volcano, took a doors off helicopter tour, snorkeled, swam, ate delicious food and of course relaxed by the beach. My next trip to Hawaii whenever that may be. I plan to visit Moloka'i and to revisit the other islands. Take a look below at some photos from our trip.
After Hawaii I traveled to Philly,Virginia and North Carolina.
It was good to travel some more. I got to see family, friends and visit new places as well.
Unfortunately Super storm Sandy hit the Northeast real hard. I went to parts of Staten Island and Red Hook, Brooklyn in New York that were immensely destroyed by the storm but the spirit and hope of the residents and volunteers was incredible to witness. I volunteered at
Red Hook Initiative and also covered the efforts of
Occupy Sandy for The Indypendent. A few of these images below were in the exhibition SANDY: Devastation, Document, Drive at The Powerhouse Arena in Dumbo.
The image above was selected to be part of the exhibition
Rising Waters: Photographs of Sandy at the Museum of the City of New York. The exhibition will be on view until March 2, 2014.
I feel very honored to have my work selected to be on view at the Museum of the City of New York and also at The Powerhouse Arena and Greenpoint Gallery earlier in the year.
In 2013, I worked with local media such as Art Parasites, Narratively and my work appeared in Businessweek, Huffington Post, and Time Out New York. I joined the American Society of Media Photographers,
ASMP later in the year and that has been a great way to meet other photographers and learn more about the business side of photography. ASMP also offers many resources and seminars.
Looking back it has been quite an adventure. Here are some images and moments in 2013.
Thank you for taking a look. Looking forward to 2014!
